I couldn't let halloween pass by without a little halloween inspired wedding styling ideas! I'm a massive fan of a dark moody colour palette for weddings, yes, black isn't everybody's go to colour when they think wedding but I think if you dare to be different it can be ultra chic. I also think, used well and combined with impact brights, black is on the cards to gain popularity next year. When better to look at this than halloween?!
THE TABLE DECOR
I've started with an image of the table so i'll continue! Halloween doesn't need to mean tacky goblins and ghouls and these gorgeous tables show that off perfectly. I love the use of the black and dark colour accessories - chairs, water goblets, plates - which make a statement without feeling too over-powering and, combined with the contrast of the florals and other accessories look stylish and stunning!
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT?
A black wedding dress may not be everyone's cup of tea (I personally love the idea...) but bridesmaids in black can still make a statement - especially for an autumn or winter wedding day. It's also a step away from the expected as well as being an extremely flattering colour.
MOODY FLORALS
The chance to step away from the stereotype of pinks and pastel shades... embrace the moody floral. I recently visited London Flower Market with lovely florist Emma Soulsby flowers for a little training on bouquet design. I was completely sucked in by the darker more dramatic tones and unusual colours and I abolsutely love this bouquet - the right pop of white versus dark and greenery.
Or... if you wanted to take the brighter, more autumnal colours around at halloween I love this bouquet from a recent styled shoot of mine, created by the very talented Jen from WILLOWGOLD flowers.
DARK LITTLE DETAILS
One of my favourite things when styling a wedding is working the style through all the little details - drinks included! I love these blackberry and pear cocktails - they'd work so well as an aperitif style reception drink - a nod to the dark palette but still beautifully elegant.
Then there are details like these gorgeous pumpkin escort cards. Who said that a pumpkin couldn't be chic... as can an orange macaron it turns out!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN ALL...
