I love a marquee wedding. I also love Miss Bush, an institution of a luxury bridal dress boutique. In fact I also love the passion drive and character that is the Director of Miss Bush, Emma Meek. So, when Emma got in touch with me to table her idea for a unique, marquee focused wedding event I knew I wanted to be involved. If you are planning a marquee wedding and you can make it to Miss Bush, Ripley, Surrey for 19:00 on 11th April 2019, you really should be booking a seat.
MARQUEE WEDDINGS
For me, a marquee wedding is a favourite on many levels, but, mostly, because: it's your own blank canvas, free to style or do with whatever you choose; it's also a flexible space with endless possibilities in terms of the structure look and style; you can pop a marquee pretty much on whatever ground space you like (your parents back garden as an example), which means that you can have the luxury of putting together your own hand picked supplier list and not being tied to preferred supplier lists.
PLANNING A MARQUEE WEDDING
A marquee, however, does come with its own specific set of things to navigate - that are unique to this type of wedding. First up, you're building an entire venue from the ground upwards. A marquee is not just a tent, you'll need a catering tent and a kitchen inside this, flooring, heating, lighting, staging, dance floor, tables, chairs, toilets, power. If you've never tackled this before this can be a little bit, daunting. There's a lot to think about and its why you'll need a team of suppliers super experienced in not only weddings but, specifically, the nuances of a marquee wedding (catering in a tent is a very different task to in a venue kitchen). If you're having your marquee wedding at home, this supplier team will need to have access for site visits. In the run up to the event there will be deliveries of kit and equipment and the entire build, wedding and take down will happen across, on average, 5 days. Then there is the consideration of what you do with that blank canvas? How do you style it and where do you begin to think about in terms of using the space? How do you lay out the space so that your marquee "flows" nicely and what about wet weather?
FASHION, STYLING AND INSPIRATIONAL AND ENGAGING CONTENT
So when, Emma Meek came to me to talk about an inspirational event aimed at couples who want a marquee wedding - an event that, not only gave beautiful styling and fashion inspiration but that also had some real meaty content to it in the form of real experts who know their stuff answering your questions as part of a Q&A interactive piece - I jumped at getting on board. So if you are thinking of having a marquee wedding, if you enjoy delicious food and cocktails and live music, if you are looking for not only inspiration but also advice - delivered in an interactive and engaging way - click here!
A FIRST CLASS LINE UP
To say we have a A team working on this one is an understatement. I'll attempt to list them all: cakes from Monannie; flowers from Kingfisher Farm Shop (who also happened to be behind Laura Caudery's wedding flowers - for those not in the know, Laura is custodian and curator of both Fetcham Park and Cams Hall wedding venues); the most style led furniture from Wedhead London, marquee from Inside Outside Marquees; unique lighting installation ideas from Luminaire Events; gifting ideas from The Wedding Present Co.; the most delicious food from Two Many Cooks; cocktails from The Cocktail Service; live music provided by ALR, beautiful stationery by the talent that is Era Calligraphy; a whole load of (very practical but exceptionally stylish) goodies from Brolly Bucket and, of course, fashion inspiration from Miss Bush as well as styling and planning from me! Sound good? Come and find out more on the 11th April, see you there?
